Scythe’s best-selling flagship cooler is now in its third iteration. The Ninja 3 has improved performance and can be used without a fan for cooling in absolute silence.

The third edition of the Ninja CPU cooler comes with a revised high-performance design. The Ninja 3 CPU cooler has eight U-shaped heat pipes and an optimised fin structure called M.A.P.S. (Multiple Airflow Pass-Through Structure). The airflow generated by the included Scythe Slip Stream 120 PWM Adjustable fan can effectively cool the heatsink.

Ninja 3 excellent!

I installed Ninja 3 and this is a great CPU cooler. Installation required removal of motherboard but instructions were clear, build quality amazing! Core temps on light load of 40C and 37C running on fan with minimum setting of 740rpm. I am even experimenting with fanless operation for light duties - so far no issues! I am puzzled though how to get the lower fan range mentioned starting at 470rpm. Perhaps someone could enlighten me?

Hi Neil - thanks for the review! In order to get the lowest possible speed from the fan you will probably have to adjust the PWM settings of the motherboard either in the BIOS or through utility software usually supplied with the motherboard.

The settings can vary quite a bit but normally you would have three settings like Performance, Optimal and Quiet. You need to set your PWM settings to the quietest settings available in your BIOS and that will reduce the overall power going to the fan enabling slower, quieter speeds.
